Bill Kirchen: Word to the Wise

You wouldn’t be wrong to refer to Word to the Wise, the latest outing from songwriter, singer and Titan of the Telecaster Bill Kirchen, as a “duets” album. The record—Kirchen’s second for Proper American, hitting May 25—is crammed to the brim with memorable appearances from a revolving cast of characters including Norton Buffalo, Paul Carrack, Commander Cody, Elvis Costello, Blackie Farrell, Dan Hicks, Nick Lowe, Maria Muldaur and Asleep at the Wheel alumna Chris O’Connell. Festival Season Begins: Tim O'Brien and More...

Several Proper American artists will be appearing at some of the best festivals this summer. Tim O'Brien is burning up the festival circuit fresh off the road with Mark Knopfler. Tim will appear with other Hot Rize alumni at Bonnaroo and then hit Telluride, Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival, and Newport Folk Festival, among others, with Hot Rize, the Tim O'Brien band or solo--or some combination of the above. Bill Kirchen who is touring on a brand new sophomore release for Proper American (see above), will play FestiVALL in Charleston, WV before his Mountain Stage appearance in June,and will crank it up at the 9th Annual Steve Belson Memorial Swim and Music Festival in Rockaway Queens, as well as Annapalooza, in Annapolis, among others.

Diana Jones will appear the Edmonton Folk Fest in August, while Cara Dillon will be hitting the festival circuit in the UK this summer, to Orkney, Big Session, Eastleigh and Shrewsbury.
